A lot of people like to buy their dolls and customize them. I guess this is the reason factory Blythe are so interesting, it is hard to decide if customize an original Blythe doll… some of us feel more confortable customizing factory dolls because there is no such pressure as when you think you could ruin an original one.
We want to start a section in the blog called Blythe customs where we want to talk about the different ways to customize your dolls. We still don’t have any own tutorial, just some pictures of our Anna, our custom. We start with the lips because anyone, with the appropriate tools, can customize a bit the doll without taking the doll apart.
First of all let’s see different types of lips: (click on the image to go to the original source)
Here are some pictures of our Anna customization.
OUR TIP: We have learnt something during the customization, if you want to make it easy, don’t use the wood carving tools because it is hard to become a soft “skin” afterwards and then if you use the putty to make it even you will have to paint the whole face as you can see below, and don’t worry about a perfect carving, think that when you paint them you can modulate the lips, put some shadows, etc. 🙂
And finally we have found some video tutorials that are not the most famous ones but they are very interesting and they show a lot of the process:
We hope you have enjoyed this post!
